Experts on Speed Dial
When you're working on a writing project that requires that particular brand of expertise, it's a handy thing to have a biochemist as a friend and have him ready to engage in a Skype conversation over the computer (video, natch) in order to hash things out.
I'm just saying, is all.

A Matter of Loaf and Death
This is great news, and I can't wait until it comes to our side of the Atlantic.

NaNoWriMo - 4th Post
9350 words, which isn't bad progress but which is an almost sure sign that I won't make it to 50K by the end of the month. Which shouldn't be a surprise, I know, considering the time constraints of my life. Tomorrow night I will be talking with my friend Stephen Rader about the biochemistry aspects of the story, which may help push it forward, but to be honest, I have some decent forward momentum, I know where the story is going, and I like the characters.
It does seem to have morphed into a YA tale, of course. Which may end up working in its favour.

NaNoWriMo - 3rd Post
Up to 5901 words, which means I managed about 2400 words for Saturday and Sunday. Not bad, considering my in-laws are in town and the boys are absolutely all over me to do stuff. Still, I know I can do better than that, especially since about 75% was accomplished today.
This forcing the flow stuff is something one can forget about it it hasn't been tried for awhile. I already have characters I wasn't planning and, unique for me, this story so far has 3 POVs (although one my end up being minor enough to jettison).
I have to work tomorrow, but hopefully will have some time late in the afternoon to do some more. Will push to have some extra time on Tuesday as well.

NaNoWriMo - 2nd Post
Not making the progress I was hoping for, but then again, this hasn't been a great week (I injured myself at work ad that really threw me for a loop. All better now). However, I can say that I've completed the opening four chapters, for a total of 3500 words. I'm hoping that I'll be able to set aside some serious writing time this weekend and do some catch-up.

Obama!
Damn, I wish we had a politician who could capture our hearts and minds like that.

NaNoWriMo - 1st Post
Running behind already, since World Fantasy messed with my timing, and then I went and injured myself at work. That said, I've managed to accomplish some things. I have a title, I have a plot, and I even have an editor and an agent who are interested in the concept.
As of today (and dammit, the US election has also eaten into my writing time), Trigger is sitting at 3046 words. Obviously I need to flail my fingers a little faster, but when all is said and done, I'm pleased.
